In 2014, our team were engaged for an assignment in the UK with a food packaging business with a circa £90 mn t/o. The project was to first disseminate the organisational issues prohibiting growth, following legacy issues with their order fulfilment capabilities. The CEO wished to tackle this issue as a priority one action point as it had prohibited growth and caused issues with client satisfaction relating to their key accounts.
Further to an investigation of the Company’s supply chain capabilities and personnel structure, a strategic decision was made to replace several Director level positions with the introduction of a Chief Operating Officer role that would oversee the Company’s supply chain functions and bring cohesion and stability to the company during a time they were experiencing growth of circa 30% YOY since 2012.
Further to the preparation of the job description and an outline of key deliverables, FSR Search, then moved to work exclusively on a retainer basis with the client to source and finally shortlist 4 candidates for interview stage. The result was the prompt execution of the entire recruitment project within 3 weeks. The end result in 2015 for the client was:
- Improved warehousing / distribution capabilities
- Increased visibility to the organisation of supply chain performance
- 9% (real) increase in customer service and order fulfilment
- A 10% reduction in labour cost with zero impact on output
- And a more motivated workforce that were committed to the business after experiencing positive change
